Αποφοιτά από το 2ο Ενιαίο Λύκειο Αγίων Αναργύρων και εισάγεται στο Τ.Ε.Ι. Αθηνών στον τομέα Φωτογραφίας και Οπτικοακουστικών το οποίο παρακολουθεί για 2 χρόνια. Εκεί μαθαίνει τις τεχνικές εμφάνισης και τυπώματος του ασπρόμαυρου film.
• 2007-2013: Εισάγεται στην Ανωτάτη Σχολή Καλών Τεχνών της Αθήνας και σπουδάζει ζωγραφική στο Ζ’ Εργαστήριο με καθηγητή τον Ι. Ψυχοπαίδη. Επίσης παρακολουθεί για 2 χρόνια χαρακτική στο Α’ εργαστήριο του Μ. Αρφαρά με διδάσκοντες τον Ι. Γουρζή, την Κ. Κώτσιου και την Μ. Σχοινά, όπου μαθαίνει λιθογραφία, ξυλογραφία, βαθυτυπία με πλέξιγκλας και τονική οξυγραφία (aquatinta) καθώς και 2 χρόνια στοιχεία γλυπτικής με καθηγητή τον Ν. Τρανό, σαν εργαστήρια επιλογής. Κάνει την τρίμηνη πρακτική της, που αφορά την διδακτική της τέχνης και την διδακτική της ιστορίας της τέχνης την οποία ολοκληρώνει με επιτυχία. Παρακολουθεί, σαν προσφερόμενο από το θεωρητικό τμήμα, το μάθημα της μουσειολογίας για δύο εξάμηνα, όπου παρουσιάζει εργασία για την αρχαϊκή πολυχρωμία με αφορμή την ομώνυμη έκθεση στο Μουσείο Ακροπόλεως.
• 2014: Αποφοιτά με άριστα από την Α.Σ.Κ.Τ.

Ερευνά τα υλικά και τις τεχνικές της ευρωπαϊκής μεσαιωνικής και αναγεννησιακής ζωγραφικής τις οποίες εφαρμόζει άμεσα στο καλλιτεχνικό της έργο, παρασκευάζοντας μόνη της τα υλικά που χρησιμοποιεί για την παραγωγή του.
Επιπροσθέτως, ερευνά την ιστορία της αρχαίας τέχνης των λαών της Ευρώπης και της Μεσογείου και τον ρόλο της στην διαδικασία της εξέλιξης του ατόμου. Στη ζωγραφική της κυριαρχεί το αφαιρετικό στοιχείο, όμως το συνολικό της έργο έχει διάφορες αναφορές σε ποικίλες περιόδους της ιστορίας της τέχνης, οι οποίες προκύπτουν μέσα από εντατική έρευνα, μελέτη και πείραμα.

Maria Marinou was born in Athens, Greece in 1986

  Education:

  • In 2004 she graduated highschool  and entered the Technological Educational Institute of Athens in the Department of Photography and Audiovisual Arts, where she studied for two years. She also took a three year intensive classical drawing lessons which are the fundamental basis of classical painting, including drawing from life, nudes and still life, but also plaster busts of exact replicas of Ancient Roman and Greek sculptures plus learning painting synthesis and colour theory, that comply with the traditional way of entering the Athens School of Fine Arts

  • In 2007 she entered the Athens School of Fine Arts where she studied painting as her main course with Painter and Professor I.Psychopaidis. She took a two year course on sculpture and after that, a two year course on engraving, where she learned the techniques of lithography, woodcut, plexiglass rotogravure and aquatinta etching. Furthermore, she successfully carried out a three month practice on Art Education and Didactics of Art History. She also took a year course on Museology where she presented an essay about Archaic Polychromy.

  • In 2012 she graduated with Honors.

  • She has a specialty in Didactics of History of Art .

  • In 2015 she took a two month course on the field of Archaeology and Cultural Heritage Management offered by National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. This provided her with the opportunity to participate on archaeological excavations.​
